Abstract
s, the latter being the most common, 6) the age at operation ranged from 4 days to 5.8 years (Average, 0.67+/-1.38 years), averages of residual Doppler systolic gradient and follow-up periods are 25.6+/-18.2 mmHg, 3.5+/-2.9 years, 7) there were 4 re-stenosis after surgery (4 of 23 patients), which necessitated balloon angioplasty in 3 cases and re-operation in 1. In conclusion, the patients with CoA varied in diagnosis time depending on their clinical manifestations, It is important to palpate the pulses and check the blood pressures of upper and lower extremities in diagnosing CoA. The discrepancies of pulses and blood pressure between both extremities may be related to the severity of the aortic obstruction, possibly to an early death. Therefore, early diagnosis and surgical intervention, and close attention to pre- and postoperative to be of management and to the occurrence of progressive postoperative re-stenosis seem at most importance in reducing mortality rate.
